Too Good to Go

Install the Too Good to Go app for yourself or friends and family. Too Good to Go is an app that prevents food waste by allowing its users to grab leftovers from their favorite local spots. You can get everything from bread to entire dishes for a low price.

Portland Food Resources Map Project: A community member was kind enough to create a few PDX-focused maps, featuring food resources (food banks, pantries, and even local restaurants offering free meals) and Free Fridge locations, to make it easier to visually see what’s nearby or easily reachable in your area of Portland.

Cheap Grocery Shopping Options Around Portland

Laughing Planet Cafe: Laughing Planet Cafe is offering free lunch and dinner to SNAP benefit recipients until SNAP benefits are fully restored. All you have to do is go in and ask for an “Adult SNAP Meal” or “Kids SNAP Meal,” and they’ll hook you up. No questions asked—no proof needed.

Heretic Coffee: The volunteer-run nonprofit cafe has already started offering free SNAP breakfast for those who rely on the program. They have pledged to continue doing so until they run out of money or the program’s funding is restored. Their hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Mama Chow’s Kitchen: The popular food cart Mama Chow’s Kitchen is offering free meals to children and seniors who rely on SNAP beginning Nov. 1, according to a post on Instagram. Their hours are Thursday and Friday from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Salvi PDX: The Salvadoran restaurant located inside Ground Breaker Brewing is offering free pupusitas to anyone impacted by the recent SNAP changes during November. Their regular hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 2 to 8 p.m. However, during November, they will also be open from 9 a.m. to noon to help feed those facing food insecurity.

Mirisata: The vegan-friendly Sri Lankan restaurant is offering a free community bowl to anyone who presents an EBT card starting November 1. Children and other dependents can choose a community bowl or a free pancake from Coopers Vegan. The business owners plan to continue offering the bowls until benefits are restored or as long as they’re financially able to do so. Their hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Cafe Olli: Cafe Olli posted on its Instagram that it is offering a daily meal on a sliding scale, ranging from $0 to $14, for anyone experiencing financial hardship and/or food insecurity. Their hours are Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again from 5 to 9 p.m., and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

DB Dessert Company: The popular dessert bakery and cafe announced on its Instagram that it will be providing free, freshly baked loaves of bread beginning November 1, in light of the recent loss of SNAP benefits. They said that anyone experiencing a mobility issue who may not be able to access the cafe should contact them to see if they can assist. Their hours are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

El Sombrero Tapatio: The family-owned Mexican restaurant is offering a warm meal to anyone in need during November. Anyone who loses SNAP benefits can request the “SNAP meal” and choose from chicken or beef options. Their hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Pharmacy PDX: The Northwest Portland bar is stepping in to provide chicken enchiladas this week for SNAP recipients who have lost their benefits for November due to the shutdown. They are asking those interested to email them at thepharmacypdx@gmail.com before 8 a.m. on Saturday to let them know how many servings are needed. Meals will be ready for pickup on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Their regular hours are Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m., and weekends from noon to 2 a.m. Please email them before Nov. 1 to order a SNAP meal.

GeekEasy Anime Cafe: Portland’s only anime cafe is offering The Otaku Special, a free ham and cheese or mixed greens wrap with a choice of coffee or iced tea. They’re also accepting donations to keep the offer going. Their hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Delicious Donuts: Starting October 30, the Portland donut shop will offer “free donuts, coffee, or breakfast items for anyone who needs a little extra support — no questions asked.” Delicious Donuts is at 12 SE Grand Ave, Portland, OR 97214. Their hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Multnomah County:

Bella Organic Farm: Bella Organic Farm will offer 10 free winter squash or pumpkins per family (or a mix of squash and pumpkins) from November 1 to November 7, during business hours (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on those days). Please stop by the farm store and let our staff know, and they will be happy to assist you.

AG Burrito Shop: Through a partnership with Oregon State Representative Ricki Ruiz, AG Burrito Shops are offering free meals to Oregonians facing interruptions to their SNAP assistance. The meals are available daily until noon and include breakfast burritos, with the option of adding rice and beans. SNAP meals are available daily until noon. Regular hours are 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days a week.

Clackamas County:

Food Resources for Clackamas County [Beavercreek, Boring, Canby, Clackamas, Colton, Damascus, Estacada, Gladstone, Happy Valley, Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Molalla, Molino, Oregon City, Sandy, Tualatin, Welches, West Linn, Wilsonville]

Clackamas Service Center: Tuesday and Thursday from 12 pm-4 pm. CSS offers a variety of grocery items catered to folks who live outside; however, this service is open to anyone! If you need food, you are welcome to join them for lunch and pick up some groceries on any Tuesday or Thursday (excluding Thanksgiving and any day between Christmas and New Year’s Day, when we are closed).

Usually, grocery items available during lunch include pre-made salads and sandwiches, breads, shelf-stable milk, canned soups, fruit, granola bars, and other portable, prepared, or easy-to-cook items. You can pick up a bag of groceries on either Tuesday or Thursday when they are offered.

North Clackamas School District Food Pantry & Clothes Closet: For families with students enrolled in the North Clackamas School District, the NCSD has a food pantry and clothes closet at the Wichita Center. The Food Pantry & Clothes Closet hours are Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Wednesdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. To access the Food Pantry at Wichita, you must have a student enrolled in North Clackamas Schools or one of the programs at the Wichita Center. The Clothes Closet at Wichita is only for students enrolled in the North Clackamas School District.

Hunger Fighters Oregon: Hunger Fighters Oregon is a small food pantry located in Lake Oswego, Oregon, dedicated to providing food and essential household items at no cost to those in need. Hunger Fighters is a no-barriers food pantry—they do not require proof of income or residency, and appointments are not required to shop. They are open Mondays from 4 to 6 pm, Wednesdays from 5 to 7 pm, and Fridays from 10 am to 1 pm.

Nan’s Taqueria: The business owner recently posted on TikTok that anyone struggling to feed their family can contact her for help. She is also seeking volunteers to assist with administrative tasks, as well as drivers. Their hours are Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Oregon City Farmer’s Market: The year-round Oregon City Farmer’s Market is offering SNAP recipients $20 in food tokens they can use at the market on EBT-approved foods. The popular Double Up Food Bucks program will also be in effect, even for those who have a zero balance on their EBT cards. The market is between South Beavercreek Road and North Douglas Loop, Oregon City, OR 97045. Their hours are Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Beaverton Resource Center’s Care To Share Food Pantry Network: The Beaverton Resource Center’s Care To Share Food Pantry Network serves Beaverton, Aloha, and Portland area residents who live within the following zip codes: 97003, 97005, 97006, 97007, 97008, 97078, 97123, 97124, 97223, 97225, and 97229.

Packed with Pride: Organized by the Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools, Packed With Pride serves families in the Tigard Tualatin School District, which includes the cities of Tigard, Tualatin, King City, Durham, and Metzger, through a shopping-style food distribution.

Beaverton-Hillsboro DHS Free Food Market: Held every Second Tuesday of the Month, 1:30 to 2:30 pm. Shop for free, fresh, and healthy fruits, vegetables, and pantry staples.
